How times flies. More than halfway through another year and for many of us halfway through our lives. Are you living your best life? Are you where you want to be?
No better time to reassess, re-set if need be. Make changes were we can. There may not be any necessity to change a single thing. Doing more of what’s fulfilling and making the most of our time. We should be enjoying and hopefully figured out what makes us happy.
Interestingly during our twenties and thirties much optimism exudes. However, speaking with many ladies this can fade during the menopausal years. Although, through the years we’ve gained experience and learned lessons along the way, for whatever reasons confidence and optimism can waver, a time when it should be at it’s peak. Time only moves forward, never to be retrieved. So here’s a thought what are you doing with yours?
Body
I only have the body I’m in which I’ve treated quite well in the main. Illness can ensue at any given moment so the aim is to ensure I’m giving myself the best possible chance of recovery if needed by looking after my health.
Hormones
HRT (hormone replacement therapy) is not for everyone and also not a one size fits all. Menopause effects women differently. Many say they have no symptoms, which is fantastic. That said there are numerous, many of which we do not associate with menopause. For instance, I’ve suffered with dry eyes, I recall my mum did too. Knowledge is power, having the correct information, enabling all of us to make informed decisions is important. Google with caution!
Brain
New stimuli is crucial for our brain health, building new connections are good for our mental health. Having valued relationships; family, friends and colleagues who are motivated, inspiring and willing to spur us on.
I started studying during covid, I struggled at the beginning, my husband encouraged me, stating I was just out of practice. I pushed through and I’ve continued, needless to say this muscle has grown accustomed to academia.

Lastly
A friend spoke with me about her reservations of restarting a journalism course which she failed to complete some years prior. She had concerns that, her seventy year young brain, perhaps would not grapple with the new learnings. She’s a talented writer with inspiring stories to share. Whatever our number I believe we have the capacity to do more. I encouraged her to, go and do! The brain is an incredible muscle, like no other. I read it can produce new neurons in no less than 21 days. Magic, eh? Go do your magic.
